Daniela Galasso - Extended Bio

California born, Italian-bred, Daniela Galasso (Dani) is an indie-pop singer-songwriter from San Francisco Bay Area. She loves combining the clever lyricism & storytelling of a classic singer-songwriter with modern pop production and an electronic aesthetic. Her sound is similar to Lennon Stella, Taylor Swift, and Lauren Mayberry (of Chvrches).

A lifelong musician, Dani has cited music as being as steady, constant beat in her life—she vividly remembers figuring out melodies by ear on her toy piano as a young kid and then picking up her first instrument, the violin, in the 4th grade. She sang in choirs in high school and college and began writing & performing original music in the local SF Bay Area scene as an adult. Her melodic beginnings, love for singing, and curiosity for language translated into a passion for songwriting—she’s constantly amazed at how songs can connect people and sees music as a universal language that anyone can understand.

As an artist, Dani has an indie-pop sensibility and pulls from a variety of genres including pop, alternative, pop-country, and electro pop music. Her music has been described as having a wistful impressionistic flavor to it. She enjoys expressing universal, emotional topics in her music—stories about love, relationships, personal struggles, and ordinary life—her songs are relatable and filled with heartfelt nostalgia and hypnotizing grace. Capturing the moment and tugging at the heartstrings, she loves to bring her listeners on a journey.

Dani has one of those voices that immediately draws you in to tell a story—her vocals are both smooth and vintage as well as delicate and airy and she carefully balances them with lush harmonies that shimmer above the arrangement.

Dani has an eclectic set of musical influences ranging from artists such as Taylor Swift, Sia, Ellie Goulding, Illenium, Imogen Heap, and Maggie Rogers.

Dani has a Bachelor’s Degrees in Music and Linguistics from UC Davis, a Music Industry Certificate from DVC, and is currently a student through The Songwriting Academy (TSA). She spends her time songwriting, producing, and doing vocal session work for her own original music and collaborations with other songwriters, artists, and producers.

Dani’s vision for her upcoming EP is to capture the soft spoken female perspective in songs that are honest and heartfelt and highlight the beauty in vulnerability.
